Savannah's Beautiful Baldwin Park Neighborhood

Baldwin Park was originally developed as part of the Chatham Crescent along with Ardsley Park. With the creation of Victory Drive in 1919 the Chatham Crescent was divided and the North end became what is today known as Baldwin Park. The area remains unique because of its “City Beautiful” Beaux Arts inspired design of curvilinear streets, roundabouts, and parks-one of the few examples that exist in Georgia.
Nestled into the Southeast of Savannah’s Victorian District,  Baldwin Park hosts a variety of architectural styles-from Victorian homes and mansions along Victory Drive to modest bungalows and ranchs - each has great character and charm. At the center of this neighborhood is its namesake, a circular park that is the ideal setting for walking, picnics, and recreation. To the South of the park is the center of Chatham Crescent, a picturesquely lined promenade with palmetto trees which crosses Victory Drive, passes through Hedeman Park and terminates at the Savannah Arts Academy on Washington Avenue.
Baldwin Park has a vibrant community network, largely thanks to the Baldwin Park Neighborhood Association- one of the city’s oldest and best organized neighborhood groups. It is a community perfect for those who like to know their neighbors, with block parties, yard sales, even an outdoor movie night that make this area the gem of Midtown Savannah. The residents are diverse in age, occupation, race, and income adding to the richness and character of the highly desirable neighborhood.
Great neighbors aside, the outstanding location is in close proximity to the best of Savannah. Downtown and Forsyth Park are less than two miles away.  The Habersham Antique Market, Green Truck burger joint and Al Salaam Middle Eastern deli are located right in Baldwin Park. Red-hot Habersham Village and its restaurants, bars and shops is an easy walk or bike ride away. Daffin Park abuts the Baldwin Park neighborhood and is home to Grayson Stadium as well as ball fields, tennis courts, a swimming pool and more. The much-anticipated Whole Foods market will be less than a mile away and the teeming Victory/Skidaway corridor-just over a mile away-offers a vast array of diversions including Home Depot, Target, Starbuck’s, Victory Cinema, Piggly Wiggly to name just a few.
Baldwin Park remains on the “Best of Savannah” lists in all local publications for a very good reason. It is truly one of the best areas to be found in historic Savannah. Beautiful homes and streetscapes, diverse and interesting neighbors, regular neighborhood events, super-convenient location and true a “Savannah” feel add up to “Best Of..” on all accounts.
